Abstract
Background International Coach Federation (ICF) defines Coaching as a partnership between two people: coach and coachee. Coaching is a helping relationship between coach and coachee. Coaching, through a creative process, stimulates reflection by motivating coachee to maximize one’s personal and professional potential. In literature there is no analysis that measures the impact of Coaching on coachee’s quality of life (QoL). The purpose of the articles was to measure improvement determined by Coaching on the single coachee through the Short Form 36 (SF-36) and collect the coachee consent through a Delphi questionnaire on how and why Coaching has impacted on their QoL.
Material and Methods The study used the SF-36 cards, two diaries of self-perception, a questionnaire of Consensus Delphi to measure QoL of n. 10 health workers of Catholic University of Sacro Cuore of Rome (coachee). The questionnaire SF-36 has been administered before and after a Coaching cycle composed by 8 sessions of about 1 hour and 15 minutes each. Diaries of self-perception, called diary 1 and diary 2 have been administered after each Coaching session. After the fourth Coaching session has been administered diary 3, a Consensus Delphi questionnaire.
Results Over a period of about 8 months (June 2017-February 2018) 90% of coachee has shown absolute agreement on the fact that Coaching has improved their performance; 80% has shown absolute agreement on the fact that has improved emotional state and 70% has improved social activities in family and friends. On the same coachee panel in 60% Coaching has also improved the feeling of happiness and reduced the feeling of tiredness. In the 50% instead has helped to feel more lively and bright, to reduce the sense of exhaustion and has helped to restore physical activity.
Conclusions The use of Coaching on the individual coachee impacts on improving QoL gaining about 10 indicators of its physical emotional and mental sphere, identified by SF-36.
